Solar subsidies in the Valencian Community: deductions and tax bonuses

Every programme that lowers the cost of home solar in the Valencian Community: what it is worth, who can use it and where the official rules are.

Solar panels on a home in the Valencian Community can be cheaper than the invoice says: the regional government, many town halls and the national tax agency each reduce a different tax. This article puts them in one place, with the official source of each rule.

Regional income-tax deduction

40% of the amount invested in a self-consumption installation at your main home can be deducted from the regional part of your income tax (20% for other homes), on up to €8,800 of spending per home and year.

Homes in the Comunitat Valenciana: 40% for your main residence, 20% for other homes. Installation registered with the regional administration.

Conditions

  • The installation must be registered in the Valencian self-consumption registry
  • Payment by card, bank transfer, nominative cheque or bank deposit (not cash)
  • The home is not used for an economic activity; subsidised amounts are excluded
  • Enough regional income tax due (four-year carry-forward available)
  • Compatibility with the national IRPF deduction on the same invoice should be confirmed with a tax adviser

Property-tax (IBI) bonuses by town

Several town halls reduce the property tax (IBI) for a few years after you install solar. The bonus is a share of your IBI bill; some towns also cap it. You request it from the town hall with the installation certificate and the invoices.

Construction-tax (ICIO) bonuses by town

National income-tax deduction (works until 31 December 2026)

Across Spain (except the Basque Country and Navarre), you can deduct 40% of works that cut the home's non-renewable energy use by at least 30% or reach an A or B energy rating — at most €3,000. Solar can qualify when the energy certificates before and after the works show the improvement.

Conditions

  • An energy performance certificate issued before the works (within the previous 2 years) and another after them
  • The certificates must show at least a 30% cut in non-renewable primary energy use, or an A/B rating
  • Works completed by 31 Dec 2026 and the post-works certificate issued before 1 Jan 2027
  • Enough income tax due to absorb the deduction; subsidised amounts are excluded from the base
  • You pay income tax under the common state regime (not in País Vasco or Navarra, which have their own)

Before you sign

  • Most bonuses are claimed by you, after the installation, with the installation certificate and the invoices.
  • The Valencian deduction does not accept cash payments: pay by card, bank transfer, nominative cheque or bank deposit.
  • For the national deduction, order the first energy certificate before the works start.
  • Rules change every year: open the official source before relying on a figure.

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine the Valencian deduction with the national IRPF deduction?

Possibly, but it has not been confirmed for the same invoice: check with a tax adviser before counting on both. Subsidised amounts are excluded from both deductions.

Which towns in the Valencian Community reduce the IBI for solar?

In our data: València, Alicante/Alacant, Castelló de la Plana, Elche/Elx, L'Eliana, Bétera. Each town sets its own share, duration and caps in its tax ordinance.

Do I need to register the installation?

Yes. The Valencian deduction requires the installation to be registered in the regional self-consumption registry.

    Spain's IRPF deduction for solar panels in 2026: 10%, 40% or 60%?

Spain now has two income-tax routes for home solar in 2026: a new 10% (or 20%) self-consumption deduction and the extended 20/40/60% energy-efficiency deductions. Here is which one applies to a house, what each requires and how much it is worth.

Are solar panels with a battery worth it in Spain in 2026?

Surplus solar is credited at a few cents and more hours hit zero or negative prices, so a battery saves more, but it also costs more. We run the numbers for a 5 kWp home with and without 10 kWh and explain when it makes sense.
